Does anyone still blog?

 Hi! I’m on a plane. And for some crazy reason I headed down memory lane and looked back at this blog from 2008-2012. What a thrill to revisit the madness of having little kids.

Does anyone still do these blogs? Does anyone check in? I’m not sure why it went away. Did it? Times change, certainly. Why did we give this up? I miss you all. And I miss the connections—the real ones. Social media ruined this, didn’t it? Or was it just me?

These posts are long, especially compared to what I’m used to now. Did everyone lose their ability to focus? Or was it just me?

I’d love to hear how everyone else has navigated the last 13 years. It seems I’ve given up too much.

Getting Started

We don't have a name, but I said I'd create a blog page for us, so here it is.  

I had to make up an address to use and "bookclub.blogspot.com" was already taken (go figure!), so I used the one thing I've heard anyone say about describing our book club.  Specifically, the comment was something like... "It reminds me of Fight Club...you know... 'The first rule of book club is: You don't talk about book club.'"  It made me laugh, so I went with it.

Back in August, Carey was assigned the task of coming up with 10 (or was it 100?) possible names for us, but we've let her slide on that so far.  I have no doubt once we pressure her she'll come up with something funny, deep, profane, or--preferably--all three.  Let's hope so!

I have no idea how this blog will work--details have to be sorted out--but we thought it would be nice to have a common place where we can make updates and keep lists of books to read, either as a group or individually, when we are actually caught up on assigned reading and want to squeeze in something else (I've heard tales of this, even if it's never happened for me). 

Bear with me; I haven't done this blog thing in a long time.  I don't even know how to keep this from being public, but I'll work on it.  Until we figure out to open this up to everyone in the group to make additions, you can send me information and I'll post it for us.

If anyone is good at this publishing/posting/computer stuff, please take over... I'd love to pass this on to someone/anyone who offers.
